Our aim is to be a welcoming and accessible church where people with different needs can find a welcome – we have received a Bronze award from Growing Hope for our accessibility and are working to improve this further! Our main space is step free and has an accessible toilet; we provide fidget toys and multisensory resources for children and adults; and we try to be a non-shushing church where people can move around if they need to. Indeed our vicar is neuro-diverse and we seek to provide a place for all to belong, contribute and participate.

Access to the building

There is step free access to the building. We have a disabled toilet with a safety alarm. This space offers a baby changing area. On Sunday’s we have spaces in different parts of the church for wheelchair users.

Parking information

There is no car park for the church. However there are spaces in nearby streets to park. Please take a look out for signs as some streets are resident permit holders only.

Multi sensory resources

On our welcome desk you will find a supply of multi sensory resources to keep children, young people and adults focused and engaged. Items include ear defenders, sensory aids, fidget toys, rosary prayer beads and holding crosses. We also have some adult mindfulness coloring cards/bookmarks and felt pens.

Quiet Area

We have a quiet area with comfortable sofas and cushions and welcome families to use this space should they need to take some time during the service. We have a privacy screen for nursing mothers.

Chapel

Our chapel is wheelchair accessible, guests are welcome to use the chapel during their visits. Button touch lighter and candles are available for your use.

Seating

Guests are welcome to sit anywhere they feel comfortable. We offer chairs both with and without arms and have cushions if required. Our chairs are movable and we will accommodate a seating plan that suits your families needs.

Sunday Worship

Hymns are projected on screens at the front of the church. The worship PowerPoints use dyslexic-friendly fonts and formats. We are also able to provide the worship PowerPoint, including hymn lyrics, in advance if required.

Communion

Alcohol free and gluten-free bread can be available upon advanced request. All are welcome to participate or not, as you feel comfortable. If for any reason you would prefer to receive communion where you are sitting please let the member of the team know. Alternatively you are welcome to receive a blessing.

Refreshments

We have a table towards the back of the church which has everything you’ll need to grab yourself a hot or cold drink during or after worship. We often share tea and biscuits over a chat afterwards. If there is anything you need which will help enable you or a member of your family to access church, you may contact the Accessibility Coordinator, at Children@CandDparish.co.uk to discuss.
